Phasmophobia Review

So, this is a game that popped onto my radar through a streamer friend who asked if I had the game. She wanted to play it with me. I told her sure I’ll get the game. I had never heard of it prior to her mentioning it. It does a pretty good job of having plenty of maps. Both large and small maps. While it can be jump scare-ish for you to turn around and see the ghost in the same room with you. It doesn’t have the cheap loud jump scares that a couple of horror fan friends dislike.

The concept is great. Although there are a lot of ghost hunting games out. It can be Solo’d or multiplayer. I prefer playing in multiplayer.

You grab equipment and head out to a haunted location with some information and investigate what kind of ghost you are dealing with. Each ghost type has its own weaknesses and abilities. The game is well thought out that each team member plays a particular role since you can only hold up to three equipment pieces at once. The matches/lighter has its own slot in your inventory now which is amazing!

The tier 1 equipment is a bit of a pain in the ass to use however the equipment gets much better as you move into tier 2/3. The larger maps tend to be better when you have a group, but the smaller maps are good for solo. Some of the maps have great looping areas.

The weekly challenges are usually fun. They also have custom game options which can earn a lot of money.

When I was first learning the game, I started playing with someone who does no evidence, no sanity and no flashlight custom runs.
