Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator Review

It’s a super cute game. It’s strengths really lie in being a visual novel, rather than a dating sim. The dad you play wants to make sure Amanda is happy. How he goes about that is up to you—you can be stern, relaxed, a mix of the two, but the aim is always to do what’s best. That’s the same across all of the dads. The dads do their best for them.

Damien’s route is really the only one I would call dating.

I just wish they leaned into the story a bit more, gave you more options and events. The should’ve added more to the characters. there isn’t a ton of information to them. You get little bits of insight to the dad’s but not enough in my opinion to cause you to fall in love with them. You don’t really get to explore them super deeply.

I especially had some qualms with the way they handled Robert’s character, both in his Good and Bad endings. He’s an egg with a tough shell, I just wanted to do was crack him open and have him end up happy!

I do understand that it’s maybe a bit more of a light-hearted experience, so points for that I guess, but it felt a little surface level. Either way, the relationship with your daughter Amanda, is by far the best aspect. Every part of her storyline is so heartwarming.

It also punishes you when you have a one-night stand with 1 of the dads, which is to me feels like a gross stereotyping? They’re full-grown adults with kids and yet a 1 nightstand is enough for them to think you’re not worth it as a love interest, it’s weird and disjointed. Almost close minded. Sex = Bad. Despite them being again, ADULTS with kids.

Each Love interest is restricted to 3 Dates that are way too short in my opinion, thus the development feels very shallow. 3 Short Dates (not even FULL dates, it’s partially play dates between the kids). And you start dating.
